周刊《女性生活》的编辑风未香（芳根京子饰）,在追逐娱乐八卦的一折班中表现失范,被调到挖掘生活信息等读者身边事的二折班。在那里遇到了有名的资深记者宝子（永作博美饰）。与追逐事件独家新闻的一折班相比,二折班乍一看就显得悠闲,其中宝子的采访方式更是与众不同。例如,在超市想买速食关东煮的主妇,被陌生的男性训斥说关东煮要自己做,在这个话题上,宝子没有加入性别论,而是不知为何开始做魔芋。一开始,风未香完全不知道这有什么意义,但渐渐发现了其与他人不同的角度,并将宝子视作自己的导师成长起来。
